September 13, 2013 - Lanner released the FW-8877, a 1U rackmount with a wide range of modular interface options supporting 10GbE over copper or fiber. Integrating the refreshed Intel platform announced today, the FW-8877 boasts an Intel Xeon E5-2600 series processor (“Ivy Bridge EP”) coupled with the C600 chipset. FW-8877 series unit is a high performance 1U Rack mount network security system utilizing the cutting edge capabilities of the refreshed Intel C600 chipset (Ivy-Bridge-EP CPU + Patsburg C600 Chipset).It is targeted at compute-intensive communications applications such as carrier-grade network security. The system is equipped with 4 PCIe 3rd Generation NIC expansion slots, giving a maximum port density of 32 Gigabit Ethernet ports.
The FW-8877 also has 8 x ECC DDR3 1600 DIMMs, IPMI support, 4 hot-swappable smart fans and a 400 W power supply with a redundant back-up. The modular interface allows the installation of various modules to deliver a flexible and powerful range of I/O options. The availability of 3rd generation bypass on all modules allows uninterrupted network uptime, even if a device in the network hangs. Also taking advantage of the refreshed Intel platform, FW-8895 has been updated to offer all the benefits of the new “Ivy Bridge” plus Patsburg chipset combination. The FW-8877 platform is compatible with Microsoft operating systems from Windows XP to Windows 7 and Linux.
