LXI Consortium certifies 2,000 instruments

16 May, 2013

There are currently 2172 LXI (LAN eXtensions for Instrumentation) compliant instruments, in 231 different product families, developed by LXI Consortium member companies.

May 16, 2013 - The LXI Consortium today announced a major milestone with the number of certified LXI compliant instruments surpassing 2000. In fact, there are currently 2172 LXI (LAN eXtensions for Instrumentation) compliant instruments, in 231 different product families, developed by LXI Consortium member companies. LXI is the power of Ethernet and the Web applied to test and measurement, offering new possibilities in test systems -- local, remote, distributed, and time aware. The LXI Standard was developed to leverage the telecommunication industry infrastructure, lower test system costs, simplify system integration, and ensure broad instrument availability. Since its inception in 2005, LXI is the fastest growing communication standard for test & measurement.

"We are proud to have surpassed the two thousand certified LXI instruments figure," said Steve Schink, LXI Consortium President. "With more than 50 of the top test and measurement companies sponsoring and developing this technology, LXI has gained incredible momentum and is recognized as the Standard for Ethernet-based instrumentation worldwide," Schink added. The fast acceptance of LXI has been due to its easy migration and interoperability with other main instrumentation standards, which aids in the creation of hybrid systems. LXI addresses the needs of R&D, design, validation and manufacturing engineers delivering electronics for the aerospace/defense, automotive, industrial, medical, and consumer electronics markets.

Frost & Sullivan estimates the total LXI instrumentation market to have generated $644 million in 2012.
