March 21, 2011 - Magnet-Schultz of America (MSA) introduces HAZ-LOC Solenoid Coils, designed and certified for use in equipment operating in hazardous locations.
HAZ-LOC coils have been approved, world-wide, for use in hazardous locations (such as volatile gas and dust atmospheres). Utilizing epoxy encapsulation, to shield the coil from the surrounding environment, and an internal thermal protector, to limit the maximum temperature of the coil, HAZ-LOC coils provide maximum protection in safety critical environments. These coils have also been designed to mount onto multiple manufacturers’ tubes/valves, without modification, while maintaining all safety certifications.
Potential applications for HAZ-LOC coils include:
- Bulk Material Storage and Handling (land based and ship-born)
- Grain elevators, Coal yards, Saw mills
- Mobile Equipment used in Hazardous Environments
- Oil and gas transportation, Construction and forestry equipment
- Mining
- Elevators, lifts, conveyors, above and underground mobile mining equipment
- Industrial Applications
- Chemical processing (volatile liquid and gas production, Silicon wafer/integrated circuit manufacturing
Features include:
- Standard Voltages: 12 and 24 VDC
- Water Ingression Rating: IP-65 rating
- Operating Temperature: Class H (thermal protector limits surface temp. to 135 degrees C max.)
- Standard Connection Schemes:
- NEC 500 & MSHA: Conduit Fitting, with wire leads
- NEC505/506 & ATEX: Junction box, with an internal terminal block
- Corrosion Protection (hours to white rust per ASTM B117):
- Standard: Clear Zinc-Nickel plating, 120 hours
- Enhanced Protection: Epoxy powder coating, > 1,000 hours
- Options: Custom dimensions, to fit different tube diameters and lengths, and Custom coil resistances/voltages (either of which would require some degree of re-certification)
