May 9, 2012 — Matrox Graphics Extio F2408 KVM extender drives a remote 2x2 multi-monitor configuration displaying Milestone Systems’ open-architecture video management software (VMS). The Extio 2408 separates I/O devices and multiple displays by up to one kilometer away from the host computer with a single fiber-optic cable, providing system operators with a high-performance, latency-free platform critical to security and surveillance environments while uniquely offering the ability to remotely operate up to 16 displays. The Matrox Extio F2408 separates the keyboard, mouse, audio peripherals, and displays of a workstation via fiber-optic cable and PCI Express bus-extension technology.

The Extio F2408 supports the extension of up to four remote analog, digital, or DisplayPort displays, while a supplemental Extio F2408E Expander unit enables support of up to eight. A second PCIe interface card, alongside a separate Extio F2408/F2408 Expander combo, meanwhile enables up to 16 possible remote displays from a single system, providing remote HD resolution support within a wide variety of markets, including security & surveillance.
