Michael Squyres selected as the 2013 ASGMT General Chairman

American School of Gas Measurement Technology is the largest gas measurement school in the United States devoted to natural gas and natural gas liquid measurement, regulation and control.

February 5, 2013 - Flow-Cal’s President and CEO, R. Michael Squyres, has been selected as the General Chairman for the 2013 ASGMT (American School of Gas Measurement Technology). The School is the largest gas measurement school in the United States devoted to natural gas and natural gas liquid measurement, pressure regulation, flow control, and other measurement related arenas. Mike Squyres and Flow-Cal have been active supporters of ASGMT for almost 20 years. Mike has served on the General Committee for many years, as well as an instructor at the annual measurement school.

Under Mike’s leadership, Flow-Cal’s subject matter experts lead multiple hands-on courses, classroom lectures, and participate in the industry exhibits. “I am honored and proud to accept the position as the General Chairman,” states Mike Squyres. “The ASGMT is recognized around the globe as one of the premier hydrocarbon measurement schools. As the 2013 General Chairman, I intend to continue our rich tradition of educating our students on measurement fundamentals as well as our industry’s exciting technological advances. Regarding such, I am proud to announce this year’s introduction of an instructional track dedicated to natural gas liquids.

We are expanding our class offerings to address the industry’s shift to the more liquid-rich shale plays. ASGMT students will now be able to increase their knowledge and understanding of the heavier hydrocarbons.” Mike has 25 years of experience in designing and developing both gas and liquid measurement applications. As the President and CEO of Flow-Cal, Inc., he has worked directly with SCADA, EFM and standards organizations to pioneer better ways to validate, calculate and report measurement data.

He is an active and voting member of the American Petroleum Institute (API) where he actively participates in a number of their standards initiatives. Mike has provided consulting services for domestic and international measurement applications, both gas and liquid. He is directly involved in the identification and development of specialty applications serving producers, midstream, pipeline and distribution companies.
