UTC EXPO 2004, NASHVILLE (May 17, 2004) - Microwave Data Systems (MDS), a world leader in industrial, wireless, networking solutions with applications in the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA)/telemetry, public safety, telecommunications, and online transactional markets, today introduced new security in the MDS 5800 wideband solution. 128-bit encryption is now standard, providing MDS 5800 customers with enhanced security. 128-bit encryption provides greater security than key encryptions of 48- or 64-bit. The encryption mechanism used rotates keys as another layer of protection from a cyber attack. The MDS 5800 is used for network aggregation, backhaul or as a network extension.
It is also an ideal solution for connecting buildings at distances up to 20 miles and can deliver data at speeds up to 155 Mbps. The 5800 is license free and easily deployed and activated, offering an immediate return on investment. A common platform in the radio supports 100 Mbps Ethernet or OC-3 interfaces. The MDS 5800 also adjusts transmission power in response to RF interference, simplifying deployment, network management and enabling dense deployment.
