Microwave Data Systems Introduces Protected Network Station; Provides Increased Reliability and Redundancy

UTC EXPO 2004, NASHVILLE (May 18, 2004) - Microwave Data Systems (MDS), a world leader in industrial, wireless, networking solutions with applications in the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), automation, public safety, telecommunications, and online transactional markets, today introduced the newest solution in its packaged product portfolio. The MDS P-21, equipped with MDS iNET 900R radios, is a protected network station providing redundant service for mission-critical applications where uninterrupted service is required. The complete unit is designed to hold two MDS iNETs, two power supplies, and a switchover logic board that automatically switches from one MDS iNET to the other in the event of a power failure.

In addition to the redundancy capabilities, the MDS P-21 includes all the benefits of the MDS iNET. This license-free solution provides high-speed data throughput of 512 Kbps and long-range coverage, which makes it ideal for SCADA systems in electric utilities, oil and gas production and distribution, and other mission-critical communications. And because it is Ethernet and serial capable, it is the ideal solution for bringing serial data onto IP networks and assists in preserving legacy equipment and providing a bridge to new Ethernet equipment.
