July 12, 2012–Mitsubishi Electric Automation introduced a CC-Link IE Field option card for its FR-A700 inverter that delivers control of remote I/O and simultaneous read/write functionality up to one Gbps. The card integrates FR-A700 inverters into the open-technology CC Link IE Field Industrial Ethernet, and can seamlessly connect more than 120 stations on a single network.
The card eliminates the need for Ethernet switches and their associated hardware and implementation costs. Plus, the FR-A700’s ultrahigh speed is at least 10 times faster than most Industrial Ethernet based networks currently available, and its flexible topology can connect as many as 239 CC-Link networks, allowing vast exchanges of data to suit any application.
“Our FR-A700 frequency inverters are popular for a wide range of applications,” said Don Cameron, senior product manager for drives, Mitsubishi Electric Automation. “Now they’re even more versatile and can remotely manage data across PLCs, computers and field devices, such as digital and analog I/O, RFID readers, VFDs and motion controllers.”
