Rockwell Automation now supports EtherNet/IP process devices in an FDT architecture with the release of FactoryTalk Linx CommDTM. It delivers a modern solution for customers adopting a next generation process field network like EtherNet/IP. The device type manager (DTM) allows asset management software that is based on FDT technology, such as FactoryTalk AssetCentre or Endress+Hauser FieldCare, to communicate with EtherNet/IP devices connected to PlantPAx distributed control systems. This extends the use of FDT Technology to gain additional insights from process instrumentation which already gathered the intelligence embedded in HART, Foundation Fieldbus and PROFIBUS devices.
Leveraging communications platforms from Rockwell Software, including RSLinx Classic and the modern FactoryTalk Linx, allows users to select process devices through an graphical interface or by simply searching device names.
