Sept. 13, 2022 - Moxa announced a significant expansion of its marine-grade industrial computer line with the introduction of the MC-3201 Series designed to add higher processing power and scalability to maritime operations. Compliant with marine standards IEC-60945 1 and IACS E10 2 , MC-3201 computers combine a fanless metal housing with the 11th Gen Intel Core Celeron processor for customers looking to run multiple workloads across harsh environments with maximum reliability, including AI, deep learning, and IIoT applications. Marine computers must be hardened to be used on container ships, survey boats, yachts and unmanned watercraft, among other large watercraft.
Moxa MC-3201 Series computers are purpose-built for shipboard use with their resistance to extreme temperatures, high humidity, dust, shock, and vibration—rugged features that also make these computers ideal for harsh factory conditions and hazardous locations (IECEx Zone 2). Measuring a compact 8.66" x 3.15" x 6.7", MC-3201 Series computers are intended for wall mounting with a minimum of required space and mounting depth.
When it comes to connectivity, Moxa MC-3201 Series computers are well configured with a variety of different I/Os to aid system integrators and ship designers with connecting peripherals to the PC, such as gyrocompasses, echo sounders, radar, sonar, and weather stations. They are also equipped with two DisplayPort outputs, allowing the system to connect to multiple external displays. In addition, the computers offer two USB 3.1 ports, four Gigabit Ethernet ports, and two 3-in-1 RS-232/422/485 serial ports.
Two DDR4 memory slots provide expanded memory requirements up to 32GB, while a built-in TPM 2.0 module enhances security coverage. Users have the option to add a variety of different communications modules, including Wi-Fi, 5G, LTE, GPS, and M.2 SATA SSD expansion modules.
Moxa proactive monitoring
The Moxa ecosystem of solutions now extends itself to Moxa Proactive Monitoring, a small-footprint, resource-friendly, easy-to-use utility available with Moxa MC-3201 Series computers to track system parameters. Users can view current values for key part indicators (KPIs) by simply clicking on the icons corresponding to the parameters in a Microsoft Windows -based user interface. Visible and/or audio alerts are triggered automatically via relays and SNMP traps when KPIs exceed preset threshold values, making it easy for operators to avoid system downtime by performing predictive maintenance in advance.
Depending on requirements, customers can choose between Moxa MC-3201 Series computers with either the Intel Celeron 6305E processor (Tiger Lake U) or the Intel Core i7-1185G7E processor, both of which support Linux Debian 11 and Windows 10.
