Net Safety Monitoring's UV/IR flame detection line has received qualification as SIL2 devices by exida.

February 2, 2010 - Net Safety Monitoring announces that its UV/IR flame detection line has received qualification as SIL2 devices by exida and that its Phoenix Triple IR Flame Detector and Millennium II Single and Multi-Channel Gas Detector have attained SIL2 qualification by TÜV SÜD for use in a high demand, or continuous mode of operation. The Net Safety Ultraviolet/Infrared flame detectors, Phoenix Triple IR flame detectors and Millennium II gas detectors are also FM certified and CSA, ANSI/UL, ATEX, INMETRO and GOST-R approved for Class I, Division 1 (Zone 1), Groups B, C, and D applications. The FMEDA testing performed yielded a Safe Failure Fraction that qualifies these detectors as SIL2 devices in accordance with the IEC61508 standard.

The SIL2 qualification allows the installation of these products into any SIL2 rated system. The Net Safety UV/IR flame detector monitors both the ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) spectral ranges, providing high immunity to false alarms due to lightning, arc welding, hot body objects and other sources of radiation. Net Safety's Phoenix Triple Infrared flame detector delivers the ultimate safety, security and performance for any application. The Phoenix uses no external reflector for routine visual integrity checks - no other detector on the market can offer this advanced technology, which greatly reduces faults and maintenance especially in extreme applications where salt, heavy rain, sand or snow are constantly present.

It has the lowest power consumption of any competitive product and is engineered to perform even in the most extreme conditions. With a full 90 degree certified field of view and extended detection ranges, field adjustable sensitivity and time delay, proprietary Automatic Digital Zone (ADZ) technology and the highest immunity possible to hot body radiation, lightning, arc welding and sunlight - the Net Safety Phoenix Triple IR is setting the new standard for industrial grade multi-spectrum IR flame detection. The Millennium II Gas Detector with its innovative multi-channel controller technology and state-of-the-art SMART (Self Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology) sensors, is exceptionally versatile.

The optional dual channel configuration can cover more area with a single transmitter and users can mix and match any sensor type. Sensors can be easily exchanged, with Infrared, Solid State MOS, Electrochemical and Catalytic Bead sensors available and compatible with both the Millennium II and Millennium II BASIC transmitters. The Millennium II transmitter automatically recognizes any connected pre-calibrated sensor and maintains an uninterrupted digital signal between them, providing leading response times including the fastest response time in the market today for H2S Hydrogen Sulfide gas detection.
