New Report: See the Economic Impact of America’s Electroindustry
This week, the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) launched a new website highlighting the electroindustry’s economic impact.

This week, the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) launched a new website highlighting the electroindustry’s economic impact. The website features data from a landmark independent economic analysis that reports the contribution of the electroindustry to jobs, the economy, and labor income and utilizes a mapping tool to display the data in each state and congressional district.

The analysis finds that the U.S. electroindustry is responsible for 1.65 million American jobs and contributes more than $202 billion annually to the economy, based on data from 2020. Those jobs generated more than $129 billion in labor income in 2020, supporting communities across America.

The report finds that electrical and medical imaging manufacturers operate plants and facilities in nearly every state and pay wages that are above average, providing a tax base that supports services in towns, cities, and rural areas across the U.S. “This is an exciting opportunity to showcase the important role that the electroindustry plays in supporting jobs, communities, and the broader economy. Our members and their employees work every day to design, engineer, and build some of the most crucial and cutting-edge technologies to make Americans’ lives better,” Debra Phillips, NEMA president and CEO, said.

“The website is a powerful tool that will empower NEMA’s advocacy on behalf of our members when communicating the electroindustry’s priorities to Congress.” The U.S. electroindustry helps create an electrified, connected, sustainable, and healthy society that meets the challenges of the 21st century. NEMA members create the products that light our homes, maintain our electric grids, automate sophisticated machines, and let doctors see inside patients.
