LabVIEW Wins India’s Electronics for You Reader's Choice Award for Second Consecutive Year NEWS RELEASE – March 15, 2005 – For the second consecutive year, National Instruments LabVIEW received the Reader’s Choice Award for Design and Simulation for India’s Electronics for You (EFY) magazine. Design engineers use the LabVIEW graphical development environment in conjunction with other design and simulation tools to easily compare real-world test data to simulation models early in the design process, which exposes flaws earlier and reduces design iterations to shorten time to market for new products.
“LabVIEW, winner of the EFY award in the ‘Design and Simulation’ category, has been noted for its ease of use and fast integration with other design and simulation tools, as well as the availability of new toolkits and additional resources,” said Ramesh Chopra, editor and publisher of Electronics for You, emphasizing how NI continues to offer seamless integration through its new add-on modules for LabVIEW in design. “LabVIEW is known for its potential for lowering overall product life-cycle costs and its ability to create a common development environment from design to manufacturing.”In creating a new product, engineers face the challenge of iterating among modeling, simulation, prototyping and testing before arriving at a completed design.
By using LabVIEW as the common development environment, designers can move easily among tools and design phases to reduce the number of iterations. LabVIEW works with design tools in embedded software design, electronic design automation, mechanical design and control design and hardware in the loop, as well as with mathematical tools and measurement hardware for design. “Receiving this prestigious award in the design and simulation category for a second year reinforces the fact that, in addition to being an ideal tool for acquiring, analyzing and presenting measurement data, NI LabVIEW is also an excellent resource for adding efficiency and ease of use earlier in the product design cycle,” said Jayaram Pillai, managing director of NI Systems (India) Pvt. Ltd.
“By making it easier and less expensive to design and test new products, designers are not only driving down costs for their companies but for the consumer as well.”The Electronics for You awards recognize the leading enterprises and individuals in the Indian electronics industry by polling its readership of more than 3,000 design engineers. IMRB International conducted analysis on input received from Electronics for You readers and members of the electronics industry, and a judging panel of readers and leading industry experts – including representatives from the Consumer Electronics Manufacturing Association, The Electronic Industries Association of India and the Ministry of IT – selected the final winners. While NI LabVIEW received top honors, other nominees included The MathWorks, Inc.
