Larger testing labs, greater infrastructure will support developing CIP technologies Ann Arbor, Michigan USA -October 27, 2006 - ODVA announced today it has more than doubled the size of its headquarters building at a new location in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This move has also expanded ODVA lab and training facilities to support the association’s growing testing and educational services for DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, CompoNet and the semiconductor industry. “There’s no denying the very encouraging signs of growth for ODVA over the past year,” said Katherine Voss, ODVA’s Executive Director. “With a growing membership, expanded testing capabilities, and the recently-announced introduction of CompoNet, a new CIP Network for simple sensors and actuators, this expansion provides much-needed space.”
Membership growth through the third quarter of 2006 includes more than 30 additional vendor member companies and builds on a trend of continued growth the organization has seen since its inception in 1995. Additionally, overall vendor support for all CIP Networks has also grown, with the number of Vendor IDs issued now exceeding well over 1,000. In addition to conformance testing, the expanded lab space at ODVA’s new location will be used to incorporate the results of the organization’s Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), to develop testing methodology for measuring and reporting performance metrics of EtherNet/IP devices.
Among the various activities held by ODVA, the expanded headquarters will also help support specification development, vendor and end-user training, developers’ workshops, and informational seminars.
