July 7, 2008 - Schaumburg, IL USA - Omron Electronic Components LLC announces the availability of a new series of IP67 (IEC60529) rated multi-port distribution boxes that feature Smartclick circular industrial connectors with one-touch bayonet locking system that enables connection with just 1/8th of a turn. The connectors are also compatible with M12 screw style connectors. These multi-port distribution boxes simplify the applied wiring of sensor actuators enabling multi-connections in an area, with just one connection going back to the controller. The XS5R a Y-joint plug/socket (2-connector version) is available in various length cables with either a connector or leads at the other end.
The XW3D-P45 is a 4-connector distribution box and the XW3D-P85 is an 8-connector distribution box, both are available with five-meter cables with leads at the other end. Versions include; 3-wire NPN, 2-wire, and 3-wire PNP. All have a beefy 4 Amp per port current rating. They carry a voltage range of 10 to 30VDC and operate in a -25 to 70C temperature range. Smartclick connectors improve the integrity of the circuit connections as compared to traditional screw style connectors.
They feature an audible and tactile click indicating a secure lock. The Smartclick lock features excellent shock/vibration resistance (tensile: 100N/15s & torsion: 1N-m/15s) making them less likely to become disconnected thus reducing costly equipment downtime. Other end system assembly advantages include reduced assembly time (compared to screw styles) and less fatigue for assemblers.
