May 21, 2012 - OPC has become a de facto standard for data integration in industrial automation applications. Attend OPC Technology Summit 2012, scheduled for October 16-18, to learn more about OPC technology and to network with the OPC experts. Register today for the early bird discount.

If you develop OPC products, use OPC solutions, or want to know more about OPC technology and its benefits, then the OPC Foundation invites you to attend the OPC Technology Summit 2012, scheduled for October 16-18 at the Renaissance Orlando Hotel at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida, USA. Open to OPC Foundation members and non-members, the multi-day event features presentations on OPC UA technology, solutions and value proposition. Event attendees will hear from end users, OPC product developers and keynote presenters, including a cyber-security expert from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and a noted industry author.

“The year 2012 is turning into a watershed year for OPC technology, with strong adoption of OPC Unified Architecture—known as OPC UA—in both the OPC developer and user communities,” says Thomas Burke, President and Executive Director of the OPC Foundation. “A number of factors have come into play, including the recognition of OPC UA as an international standard by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).”

Strong support for OPC UA is emerging in all the major sectors of the world. At the OPC Foundation Board of Directors’ meeting held in April in Hannover, Germany, the board members were updated on global OPC activities by the regional OPC Foundation offices. Says Burke, “The roadshows, events and seminars hosted by the regional leaders in OPC Europe, OPC Japan and OPC China are driving demand for and adoption of OPC UA solutions.”

The OPC Technology Summit will gather OPC professionals from around the world to discuss how OPC UA technology solves information integration challenges. There are a number of marquis names on the speaker roster, including a presentation on the OPC UA technology adoption “roadmaps” for major automation companies such as ABB, Invensys, Rockwell Automation, Siemens and Yokogawa. End-user companies will be well-represented, with speaker commitments to date from Procter & Gamble and Schlumberger. A keynote speaker from the U.S.

Department of Homeland Security will address best practices for reducing control system cyber security risk.
