OriginLab enhances Origin graphical software

Enhancements include several new features that allow for more sophisticated representations of data, and provides users with a greater ability to analyze their data directly in graphs.

October 3, 2010 — OriginLab released Origin 8.5 Windows-based analysis and graphing software. The release includes several features that allow for more sophisticated representations of data, and provides users with a greater ability to analyze their data directly in graphs. The features include transparency control to allow graph elements to overlap while maintaining clarity and gradient color fill to increase contrast and visual impact. Zooming and panning can now be done simultaneously on graphs and images, allowing for more efficient inspection of data at multiple scales in both two and three dimensions.

Additional graphing improvements include an enhanced waterfall plot, a new vector plot template, and the ability to add error bars to 3D plots. Moreover, the new virtual matrix feature enables surface and contour graphs to be created directly from worksheet data, including those with non-uniform axis scales. Key analysis features have also been added, including a new Fitting Function Builder, a redesigned data information window, and three new Gadgets: region statistics, interpolation and differentiation. The following list summarizes the top features of Origin 8.5:1.

Transparency and Gradient Fill Control for Graphs 2. Zoom and Pan on Worksheets and Graphs 3. Z-axis and Color Map Support for Waterfall Plots 4. Embed MS-Word, Excel and Equation Objects in Origin Graphs 5. Gadgets: Regional Stats, Differentiation and Interpolation 6.

Fitting Function Wizard 7. 3D Graphing: Vectors, Error Bars, and Multiple Intersecting Surfaces 8. Matrix Improvements: Headers, Thumbnails, and Color Map 9. Contour or Surface Plot from a Virtual Matrix 10. Improved Image Profile Tool 11.

Redesigned Data Information Window 12. 2D Plotting: Label Customization for Column/Bar, and Flexible Ternary Scale
