ORing , a frontrunner in industrial networking solutions, announced the release of its cutting-edge HSR/PRP module, a game-changing addition to its portfolio. Designed to transform network redundancy, this innovative module integrates High Availability Seamless Redundancy (HSR) and Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) technologies, elevating network reliability to unprecedented levels. As power grids worldwide move towards digitalization, communication networks require greater redundancy to ensure continuous operations. As a result, HSR and PRP have emerged as indispensable network redundancy protocols, as specified by the IEC 62439-3 standard. HSR employs a ring structure with IEDs possessing dual network interfaces, reducing hardware investments and ensuring continuous operation.

However, increased communication loads may use more bandwidth. Conversely, PRP's parallel architecture connects IEDs to independent LANs, maintaining communication even if one network fails, making it suitable for critical substations despite higher costs. Combining these technologies in a single module optimizes network redundancy, enhancing reliability and performance. ORing's innovative dual redundancy module overcomes the limitations of using HSR or PRP individually. By adding this module to the network, users can instantly enhance their network redundancy capabilities with HSR and PRP technology.

This groundbreaking module ensures zero packet loss and zero-time recovery, fulfilling the critical requirements of power substations and rolling stock applications. This HSR/PRP module is compatible with ORing's RGS-P9000/PR9000 Series, which includes modular managed redundant ring Ethernet switches with four slots. The PR9000 model within the series is a Layer-3 model. Specifically designed for power substation and rolling stock applications, the RGS-P9000/PR9000 Series fully complies with the IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 requirements. It also supports various Ethernet redundancy protocols, including O-Ring and MSTP, to safeguard mission-critical applications from network interruptions or temporary malfunctions through its rapid recovery technology.

Additionally, this series supports IEC 61850 QoS, enabling prioritization of GOOSE and SMV packets. It even includes a built-in MMS server that facilitates switch and IED monitoring via SCADA systems. ORing CEO Angus Shih commented, "ORing is dedicated to delivering solutions that redefine industry standards. Our new HSR/PRP module empowers customers to build mission-critical networks that are future-proofed for smart infrastructure while demonstrating our commitment to providing cutting-edge technology that enhances the reliability and performance of industrial networks."
