May 3, 2012 - Pepperl+Fuchs PowerScan D Cabled Barcode Reader System is now certified for use in Class I/II/III, Division 2 hazardous locations. PowerScan D reliably reads all common 1D-barcode types, even capturing damaged and difficult-to-read barcodes in hazardous areas and under harsh conditions. PowerScan D is also certified for use in Zone 1 and Class I/II/III, Division 1 hazardous areas. PowerScan D can be a critical component in batching processes, recipe handling and procedure/operator validation, and traceability of raw material in batch and lot tracking.

They are ideally suited to accurately capturing operating data in applications where high quality production is demanded and where there is manual involvement in a recipe process such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, flavor and fragrance, and colors and paint. PowerScan is also available as a wireless barcode reading system for Zone 1 locations. This PowerScan M wireless system consists of a transmitter and base station, with power provided by a charger located in the safe area, and can be used in combination with VisuNet industrial operator workstations, TERMEX operator terminals or as a standalone solution.

“The durable PowerScan D provides simple aim-and-click scanning from up to 1 m (3.0 ft.) away, and readings are not affected by ambient light or sunlight exposure.

A rugged IP65 housing ensures full functionality and consistent scan quality even after being dropped from a height of two meters (6.5 ft.), and a targeting guide helps users achieve successful readings when codes are located in close proximity to one another,” explains Kristen Barbour, Product Marketing Manager, Pepperl+Fuchs.
