September 27, 2013 - Power Sources Unlimited announces SS20 Series of 20KV/10KA A/C line surge suppressors that protect designs from catastrophic failures caused by over-voltage surges. LEDs are designed into 24/7 applications for their long life and low maintenance, but these advantages are lost when surge immunity is not applied. SS20 Series is designed to be used in tandem with LED drivers and fluorescent ballasts to provide an added level of protection against harmful power transients in dry, damp and wet environments. Standard features include, integrated thermal protection device per UL1449 (Type 4), meets IEEE C62.42 surge requirements, wide-range operational temperature from -40°C to +85°C, LED indicator and standard 1/2″ NPT threads for quick installation.
Protection is provided from surges up to 20KV/10KA (using industry standard 8/20 uSec wave shape). The IP66 rated compact case features three wire leads for line-ground, line-neutral and neutral-ground protection. Models are available for 120, 277 and 480VAC power. Units are RoHS compliant and pricing starts under $13 each in OEM quantities. Prototypes are available in 1 week.
