October 27, 2008 - The new Remstar MegaStation vertical carousel is designed to recover floor space, increase productivity and improve operator ergonomics in supply chain automation applications. The system consists of shelves that rotate up or down via the shortest path, automatically delivering items to an ergonomically positioned pick window. By maximizing the use of overhead space, the MegaStation carousel can recover up to 75% of the floor space typically required for traditional shelving systems. The carousel can require the least amount of floor space of any automated system and with more than 16,250 standard configurations available provides a flexible solution for most facilities.
The MegaStation vertical carousel is ideal for facilities with a wide range of product height, depths and widths, meeting virtually any storage and retrieval requirement. By eliminating wasted walk and search time organizations are able to increase productivity by 2/3 and reduce overall labor costs. Items are automatically presented to the operator with the carousel and integrated pick-to-light system immediately identifies the item and quantity needed to pick or store, increasing productivity and ensuring accuracy. The MegaStation carousel is compatible with several integrated pick-to-light hardware and software technologies and models.
