The AOIs work to reduce communications overhead by decreasing the work of integrating Lexium MDrive motor and electronics products into new and existing PLC programs.

February 20, 2019 — Announcing the release of a new Automation Library for control of industrial devices and motion control components over Profinet networks. The library add-on instructions (AOI) enhance the capabilities of Schneider Electric Motion’s Lexium MDrive (LMD) products by providing executable code blocks to speed interface with popular Profinet PLCs.

Motion control with AOI automation libraries, interface LMD products over Profinet via Siemens S7 series PLCs.

The AOIs work to reduce communications overhead by decreasing the work of integrating Lexium MDrive motor and electronics products into new and existing PLC programs. Motion is controlled over networks with functions including: relative move, absolute move, jogging, homing, read inputs, and write outputs.

Lexium MDrive products integrate 1.8° 2-phase stepper motors with onboard drive electronics, controller and encoder. Products with fully programmable motion controller may be operated in several modes including closed-loop, torque control, and variable current control for reduced heating. Both rotary and linear stepper motor versions are available.
