May 15, 2015 - Sealevel Systems introduces HazPAC R9-8.4 computer for hazardous areas. It has RISC-based embedded computer and a bright 8.4" TFT LCD to create a wide-temperature, ruggedized, flat panel computer perfect for a variety of HMI and control applications in hazardous area locations.

The system carries the ETL electrical safety mark and is tested and certified for use in hazardous locations classified as Class I, Division 2 (Groups A, B, C, D T5). Additionally, the system is certified in accordance with European ATEX directive and IECEx scheme requirements for use in Zone 2 classified areas.

Featuring LED backlight technology, the HazPAC R9-8.4 offers an extended operating temperature range of -40° to +60°C with no heaters or cooling fans required. The front bezel of the system maintains NEMA 4/IP65 protection from sprayed liquids. For increased durability, the touchscreen integrates a glass surface that is waterproof, abrasion/scratch resistant, and impervious to flames, chemicals, solvents and stylus use.

Powered by a 400 MHz ARM9 microprocessor, the HazPAC R9-8.4 is available with 128MB RAM and 256MB Flash memory for maximum performance in embedded systems. Standard I/O includes Ethernet, serial, USB and digital interfaces. The system is powered from a 9-30VDC source or select from a variety of Sealevel power supply options.

To provide the fastest time to market, the Windows CE 6.0 BSP binary and low-level drivers for system I/O are included. Additionally, the HazPAC R9-8.4 software package is equipped with the Sealevel Talos I/O Framework, which offers a high-level object-oriented .NET Compact Framework (CF) device interface.

This interface provides an I/O point abstraction layer with built-in support for easily interfacing the system’s I/O. Linux support is also available.

The HazPAC R9-8.4 is priced from $1,599.
