Secomea adds remote access to SiteManager

By: Secomea A/S - North America
25 September, 2011
SiteManager now allows a service engineer to connect to PLCs and automation devices at remote sites via the Internet.

September 25, 2011 - Secomea added hardware appliances for remote access to Serial and Ethernet attached equipment. SiteManager is the component in Secomea’s solution that typically is installed in a machine control panel alongside PLCs and HMIs. Together with the Secomea LinkManager software client, the SiteManager enables a service engineer to connect to automation devices at remote sites via the Internet, and then work with these using the native programming software as if the devices were placed local to the engineer’s PC. The solution also features remote access to SCADA systems, web cams etc. SiteManager 3229 is intended for larger installations and machines with several control units and panels.

The smaller model 1029 is price tagged to fit the budgets of typical utility installations with just one PLC and one HMI. Both models are designed for DIN mounting and can operate at temperatures from -40 to +80 degrees Celsius. In installations without access to wired Internet, a standard USB 3G/GPRS modem can be attached, and simultaneously the SiteManager can be used for remote access to selected USB based PLCs. Both models supports programmable digital I/O ports where one of the standard features is to signal when remote access is established, and which will make the solution compliant to an upcoming directive for remote servicing of packaging equipment.
