February 18, 2014 - The Siemens Drive Technologies Division now presents a new highly integrated solution that combines planetary gear unit technology with geared motor technology. With this new solution Siemens offers an integrated drive system in a single product consisting of a Flender standard industry planetary gear unit (SIP), a Simogear geared motor and a Sinamics G110M inverter. This integration allows the weight and mounting space to be reduced considerably and provides numerous mounting options, resulting in a high level of flexibility where the system design is concerned.
As part of the Flender standard industrial planetary gear unit range Siemens is now offering a highly integrated solution that combines planetary gear unit technology with geared motor technology as an Integrated Drive System. Flender SIP gear units are particularly suitable for applications in which high transmission ratios are needed in the low and medium torque range. They can be combined with Siemens geared motors and inverters. For the first time, Siemens is now launching a fully integrated solution that offers extensive mounting options, such as brakes, encoders or backstops, and is available for all common motor standards, for instance IEC, NEMA, CCC and CSA.
As both a coaxial and a right-angle shaft arrangement are possible, this gear unit solution allows very flexible dimensioning of systems. Flender SIP gear units are ideally suited to conveyor applications with bulk goods and for drives required for rotary and swivel operations and drum drives in the process industry.
