Darmstadt, Germany - Oct. 30, 2020 - TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensors, is proud to deliver a keynote presentation and “Tech Talk” at the first SPE Pioneer Summit on Nov. 3-4, 2020. The summit is a virtual symposium bringing together pioneers and experts in Single-Pair Ethernet (SPE) to discuss the technology and the future of IIoT for the automation market.

The summit is hosted by the SPE Industrial Partner Network , a consortium of leading industrial companies dedicated to setting uniform global standards and advancing the technology infrastructure that makes IIoT and Industry 4.0 possible in industrial applications.

  • Keynote: Dr. Michael Hilgner (pictured above), principal R&D/product development engineer, will co-present the keynote “The State of SPE Technology & Standardization.” (November 3, 9:40 a.m. CET)

  • Tech Talk: Ruud van den Brink, TE product manager for Industrial Communications, will co-present a “Tech Deep Dive: Connectivity” session. (November 3, 1:00 p.m. CET)

“As a founding member of the SPE Industrial Partner Network, TE has always believed in the potential of Single-Pair Ethernet to reduce network complexity and integration efforts, as well as to dramatically improve the cost effectiveness of power and data transmission down to the sensor level,” said van den Brink. “The Pioneer Summit reflects our commitment to the technology and to accelerating its adoption as the universal medium in all automated applications.”

TE’s commitment to SPE

SPE describes the transmission of Ethernet over only one pair of copper wires. In addition to data transmission, SPE also enables a simultaneous power supply of terminal devices. Previously, this required two pairs for Fast Ethernet (100MB) and four pairs for Gigabit Ethernet. The technology significantly reduces complexity and cost in power and data transmission. It also paves the way for smart, connected facilities from the cloud to the field level.

TE was among the first to introduce this technology to the automotive market and is the only manufacturer supporting both automotive and aerospace applications. As a company, TE is now focused on bringing SPE technology to all industrial applications as the ideal infrastructure to accelerate IIoT.
