Texas Instruments introduces LDC0851 proximity sensor
The LDC0851 provides designers an for proximity, position and motion sensing applications such as rotational encoders, buttons and door open/close detection.

August 3, 2016 - The LDC0851 detects the presence or absence of a conductive material by using a simple coil drawn on a printed circuit board (PCB). It provides designers an for proximity, position and motion sensing applications such as rotational encoders, buttons and door open/close detection. In addition, the device does not require any calibration during production, saving time and cost during manufacturing.

Key features:

  • Magnet-less operation
  • Delivers better than 1% switching accuracy,
  • Operates at less than 20 µA at 10 samples per second
  • Immunity to nonconductive contaminants, such as oil, dirt and dust
