January 20, 2014 – Thermo Fisher updates Momentum automation scheduling software, Momentum 3.3 automation scheduling software offers new features to facilitate set-up and streamline workflows. Designed to save valuable time, this latest iteration of Momentum software incorporates graphical system layout and an instrument integration suite within the runtime environment. By configuring their system directly in Momentum 3.3, users can accommodate quick system and instrument changes.
Furthermore, the communication settings for all instruments on the system can be tested at the click of a button for rapid integration. Other enhancements engineered to simplify automation include the integration of a container library, designed to provide users with a pre-configured database of commonly used container types. This can allow precise container handling without the need to populate complex parameters. The intuitive software also supports flexible workflow logic, allowing users to define a set of plates to process based on lists of barcodes. This feature was added to enable plate and consumable inventory use in multiple processes, across batches.
The set-up process has also been streamlined, with fewer steps than previous versions. This is designed to shorten sample submission times. Momentum 3.3 is designed to be especially useful for modeling complex scenarios on large automated systems. The system can control more than 30 robots in one system.
