May 17, 2011 – Thomas & Betts releases Russellstoll MaxGard Explosion-Proof Waterproof Receptacles. They seal components with neoprene O-rings for environmental separation, ensuring a waterproof seal even if the receptacles aren’t connected. Safety is further enhanced with a selection of 24 single-rate device polarizations, which ensures exact voltage, frequency and phase differentiation, preventing connection to differently rated power supplies. These features make the line ideal for heavy-duty industrial and marine type applications, including generator sets, transportable equipment, welding systems, lighting and controls systems.
The receptacles are available in two models: Russellstoll MaxGard Waterproof Circuit Breaker Interlocked and Non-Interlocked Receptacles. Both feature standard neoprene O-ringed interior components for environmental separation at the front of each device: they don’t have to be connected together to be watertight. Additionally, both models feature a gated rotating disk at the face of the interior, which is engaged on insertion, and are available in 24 single-rate device polarizations with additional special ratings available. The Explosion-Proof Waterproof Circuit Breaker Interlocked Receptacle includes standard, high-AIC and switch only breakers and a drain plug. The Explosion-Proof Waterproof Non-Interlocked Receptacle is available in all standard polarizations to 480VAC.
Both models feature a heavy-duty, explosion-proof cast aluminum housing with an electrostatic epoxy coat finish, treaded access with O-ring for explosion-proof and waterproof integrity, and factory-sealed receptacle interiors that accept standard explosion-proof rated MaxGard plugs. Plugs earn their explosion-proof ratings for 30 to 100 amps with standard delayed-action pull-and-turn withdrawal. All system components use mating screw collars.
