Oct 24, 2006 - Trinity Integrated systems has won a global award for innovation at the IET’s annual Innovation in Engineering Awards.The Sale based company won the Software Design award for its software translation tool.Trinity Integrated Systems has created software which addresses a major problem in the process control industries (e.g. oil, gas and nuclear), where the existing hardware-based automatic controllers are obsolete and must be replaced.
The judges of the award commented that the winning design provides a complete, high integrity, reverse and re-engineering software toolset to enable the replacement of obsolete controllers with new technology. The operational safety and integrity of the replacement controllers is a paramount concern. The tools provide the means to understand and document the obsolete controllers and enable the design, coding and testing of replacement systems. A total of 17 awards, each sponsored by a major company, were presented and at a ceremony at the IET’s London HQ in Savoy Place. The awards evening was hosted by TV personality Adam Hart-Davis.
The awards have been supported by the Department of Trade and Industry. Lord Sainsbury of Turville, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Science and Innovation at the DTI attended the awards. The IET has worked closely with the DTI and the Queen’s Awards Office to promote the Innovation category of the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise. Dr. Alf Roberts, CEO of the IET said: “These awards recognise the vital role that innovation in engineering plays in the global economy.
