Universal Flow Monitors, Inc. introduces CoolPoint™ vortex shedding flowmeters with stainless steel bodies for corrosion resistance.

CoolPoint™ flowmeters are now offered in 316 SS construction for measuring and monitoring corrosive fluids and water with chemicals added. Flowmeters with the 316 SS bodies can be equipped with Kalrez® perfluoroelastomer seals for added reliability in harsh chemical environments. The CoolPoint™ flowmeters are designed to provide consistent flows of water, water/glycol coolant or low-viscosity fluids.

Stainless steel versions are available in two pipe sizes: 1/4 inch, which provides a maximum flow rate of 4 U.S. gallons per minute (15 liters per minute), and 1/2 inch, with a maximum flow rate of 12 U.S.

GPM (45 LPM).Like other meters in the CoolPoint™ series, the 316 SS meters provide high repeatability and accuracy for flow consistency. Repeatability is +/-1 percent of actual flow, and accuracy is +/-2 percent of actual flow.Totalizing capability is a feature of the CoolPoint™ units. The flowmeters have a scaled pulse output as a standard selectable option.

This scaled pulse output increases their ability to measure, monitor and control the total amount of liquid or fluid used in a process. The CoolPoint™ flowmeters are built for effective measurement of liquids and fluids that may contain particles. These electronic meters have no moving parts to stick or coat, thereby eliminating potential for clogging. In addition to the stainless steel versions, CoolPoint™ flowmeters are offered with flow bodies of brass with PVDF and Viton seals in sizes ranging from 1/4 inch to 4 inches, providing flow rates up to 600 U.S.

GPM (2271 LPM). The meters have a 4-20 mA flow transmitter, pulse output, LED digital display and user-configurable alarm set points. Sizes from 3/4 inch to 4 inches are available with a temperature transmitter for flow applications involving heat removal. CoolPoint™ flowmeters are easy to specify, install and use. They are sold by pipe size, and all other features are selectable by pushing buttons on the meter face.

Wiring is simplified by use of a pin connector optionally sold with the product.Universal Flow Monitors, Inc., located in Hazel Park, Mich., has manufactured flowmeters for a variety of industries for more than 20 years.
