A motor branch circuit, including a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) and one or more Motor Protection Circuit Breakers (MPCBs), is a complex system and its performance depends on all components, devices, configuration and their interconnection. This publication explains some considerations for the selection of MPCBs. The information in this paper has been developed through known engineering principles and validated by thorough testing and simulation.
