May 5, 2010 – VersaLogic announced a PC/104-Plus single board computer (SBC) based on the Vortex processor. The new "Tomcat" SBC boasts 800 MHz performance with very low power draw (3W typical) due to its use of the highly integrated Vortex86DX chip. The Tomcat is based on the PC/104-Plus industry standard form factor (3.6” by 3.8”) and supports both PC/104 and PC/104-Plus expansion.
The low power Tomcat is completely fanless, available in industrial temperature versions (-40° to 85°C), and is qualified to MIL-STD-202G shock and vibe standards for use in a wide range of harsh environments. Commercial temperature versions (0° to +60°C) are also available. Both are fully RoHS compliant. The board features 128 to 512 of soldered-on RAM, two USB 2.0 ports, two RS-232/422/485 ports, and a socket for removable CompactFlash devices.
It also includes a 10/100 Ethernet port, LPT, IDE interface, and legacy PS/2 interface for keyboard and mouse. The Tomcat is compatible with most X86 operating systems, including Windows XP, Windows Embedded XPe/CE, Linux, QNX, and DOS. This new product is customizable, even in low OEM quantities, with options such as conformal coating, revision locks, custom labeling, high-G shock and vibration treatment, custom testing and screening, etc. Pricing is around $325 USD in OEM quantities.
