25 November, 2008
OpenCV includes movement detection. facial recognition, object tracking, contour processing and image segmentation.

November 25, 2008 - Vision Components GmbH adapted OpenCV, the open source program library, to its VCRT operating system, implementing it on all lines of VC Smart Cameras. OpenCV was originally developed by Intel and published under a BSD license, running only on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux systems.

Integrating OpenCV into VC Smart Cameras has increased their application range, since OpenCV includes many enabling algorithms, among others: Movement detection Facial recognition Object tracking Contour processing Image segmentationThe fast image processing library complements VC Smart Cameras, which are able to execute all image processing routines self-contained, thanks to their integrated intelligence, thus replacing standard PC-based systems. After registering the Open CV material can be downloaded, from the Vision Components web site.

Company Background

Vision Components GmbH was founded in 1996 by Michael Engel, inventor of the first intelligent camera for industrial applications. Today, it is a leading supplier in the field of industrial image processing. The Ettlingen-based company develops and distributes intelligent, network-compatible real time cameras. Due to their proprietary multitasking operating system VCRT, the devices operate without an additional PC, making them easy to integrate into almost any industrial facility.
