WAGO Introduces 236 Series Through-Hole-Reflow For Surface Mount Technology

Germantown, WI, April 2004 - WAGO announces new advancements in both design and processes to lead the industry in providing a cost-effective solution for Surface Mount Technology (SMT) with their 236 Series. Key design elements incorporated into the 236 Series included optimizing the solder pin length to adapt to the reflow process, use of high temperature resistant plastic for the insulating housing, in addition to utilizing the proven labor-savings realized with WAGO’s unique CAGE CLAMP® spring pressure connection technology that reduces wiring and installation time by 60%. The 236 Series is offered in 2 to 6 pole configurations with 5mm (0.197inch) pin spacing and is capable of handling conductors ranging from AWG12-28.

Standard packaging or “pick and place” configurations are also available upon request. The new terminal blocks are simply pushed into the solder paste filled PCB holes and then soldered along with the SMT components in a forced air convection system. The result is a perfect connection both from the mechanical and the electrical point of view. “The integration of classic electromechanical components such as connectors into the reflow soldering process reduces the overall costs associated with populating all component types onto PC boards,” claims Jim Bachle, Electrical Product Manager for WAGO.

“Now customers can enjoy not only the cost savings realized by using the WAGO wire connection technology, but also the savings associated with eliminating an extra assembly step in their PC board processing operation.” The new 236 THR Series is available for immediate delivery and is ideally positioned to be very competitive with list prices starting at $0.25 per pole. WAGO is the worldwide leader in spring pressure connection technology designed to eliminate loose wires as a result of vibration and temperature cycling, as well as provide a highly reliable, corrosion resistant, and maintenance-free connection.

Our complete line of spring pressure connection products include DIN rail mount terminal blocks, chassis mount terminal blocks, PCB mount terminal blocks, relays, signal conditioners, power supplies, surge suppressors, the WAGO I/O SYSTEM and more. For more information contact WAGO at 1-800-DIN-RAIL, [email protected] , or www.wago.com .
