Conventional wisdom has been that an Advanced Process Control (APC) sustainment program should include an element where the site’s Control Engineers are tasked with being APC “Champions” - coaching Operators in their use of the APC, for example, making sure the APC is turned “ON” when it should be, etc. To support that, many APC vendors have developed APC monitoring applications to provide the Control Engineer with KPIs, trends and descriptive statistics to assist with this work flow.What if there is a better way? Can we leverage other stakeholders at the site to be a partner in APC sustainment, resulting in a more effective sustainment program? If so, what type of information would these stakeholders need?
This presentation will cover on a new approach for APC monitoring, focusing on the problem, a solution and several industrial case studies where the solution has been applied.
