January 23, 2011 - Winsted released Winsted Equipment Layout Software (WELS) version 3.7.1, available for free online. The latest version of the easy-to-use, interactive design tool allows users to incorporate new product lines, work surfaces and monitor mounts into designs.
“When I know what equipment will go into a system, I can design a console in 10 or 15 minutes using WELS,” said Brian Veazey, project engineer at HMA Consulting, Inc. and longtime WELS user. “It’s nice to have the ability to quickly create drawings and export them to AutoCAD where we primarily create our room layouts.”Winsted added their Insight console series, which features a compact profile ideal for high-density command/control environments, to the software. The company’s Endurance Edge replaces TruForm as the default work surface in this version of the software.
The new Comfort Edge work surface, featuring a contoured urethane edge, is also available as an option.
Additionally, WELS v3.7.1 features a number of new mounting options including: Axiom 1.5” monitor mounts; single, double and triple LCD pole mounts; pole mounts with articulating monitor arms; and phone mounts.WELS allows users to easily create console designs and room layouts using products from Winsted’s extensive product lines.
This user-friendly tool provides full 3D design, parts lists, design specification sheets, and can export AutoCAD DWG files for 2D and 3D application. WELS can be used out of the box – with no training or additional CAD programs or tools required.
