Xycom's PanelStation Series Programmable Operator Interfaces Sets the Standard for Class 1 Div 2 Ethernet Enabled HMI’s

Saline, MI – May 30, 2003 – Xycom Automation, Inc., a subsidiary of Pro-face America, announces the release of the Pro-face brand PanelStation Series Programmable Operator Interfaces. The PanelStation Series units (QPI, QPJ, and QPK) offer the largest protocol driver support available anywhere for ease of system integration from factory floor to management information systems.

"The PanelStation products arethe only operator interfaces fully compatible with existing QuickDesigner software users and Pro-face’s more powerful GP-PRO/PBIII graphical editor software with scripting offering new and existing QPx-3xxx-xxx base installations to expand their functional capabilities," says Gary Labadie, Business Unit Manager, PanelStation/GP Products.The PanelStation programmable operator interfaces provide top-notch performance, clearer displays, with more expansion options than any other HMI on the market. PanelStations offer bright, easy-to-readmonochrome, amber, blue mode and 256-color TFT/STN LCD displays with touchscreen interfaces and up to 4 MB of application memory.

Screen sizes consists of 5” (QPJ) and 6” (QPK) with 320 x 240 pixel resolution, 7.4" (QPG) and 10.4” (QPI) with 640 x 480 pixel resolution, and 12.1" (QPL) with 800 x 600 pixel resolution.

Various PanelStation models include 100 MHz RISC processing power with built-in 10Base-T Ethernet connector, a CompactFlash™ card slot, an RS-232C/RS-422 serial connector, aparallel printer connector, and a high-speed (115.2 kbps) serial interface that can support a conventional or two-dimensional bar code readers, plus a sound output. All of this is constructed in a rugged IP65-ratedNEMA 4x case offering superior protection from humidity and dust, in addition to CE, UL, and cUL Class 1 Division II ratings.Communication network connectivity to DeviceNet™, Data Highway plus, Modbus RTU, Profibus-DP, T-Link, INTERBUS and other popular automation systems is well supported by communication expansion modules.

These communication modules mount on the back of a PanelStation unit enable users to migrate their HMI’s to various factory automation systems.The PanelStation Series is supported by several feature-rich software packages that include the popular QuickDesigner 3.7 simple graphical editor, GP-PRO/PBIII C-Package02 Windows-based graphical editor with scripting and screen animation, Pro-Server for data transfer between a PanelStation and information systems, and GP-Web for interfacing with remote systems via the Internet.GP-PRO/PBIII C-Package02 offers animated display screens creation, data display (trend graphs, meter graphs, histograms), and audio alarms with alarm summaries.

The software allows a PanelStation to be expanded beyond applications from simple pushbutton replacement to full process monitoring. GPPRO/PBIII C-Package02 combined with Pro-Server simplifies data transfer to a variety of programs such as Microsoft® Access and Excel, supporting ADO, SQL, DDE, and OPC for open connectivity. Pro-Server includes capabilities to customize daily reports in Excel that can be sent via e-mail for up-to-date production data sharing anywhere in the world.GP-Web software enables real-time monitoring of PanelStation unit’s actual factory floor display from a remote PC via the Internet. No special programming is required since system configuration is fully menu driven.

Applications include OEM system diagnostic support, remote production and inventorymanagement, plus more basic applications of pump stations and pipeline monitoring via the Internet.
