April 9, 2026 — Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces that its integrated control and safety system consisting of the CENTUM VP production control system and the ProSafe-RS safety instrumentation system has received ISASecure System Security Assurance (SSA) Level 1 certification from the ISASecure program, which is led by members of the International Society of Automation (ISA). CENTUM VP and ProSafe-RS are part of the OpreX Control and Safety System lineup.
Furthermore, Yokogawa’s IT Security Tools software for enhancing the security of system products has received CIS Benchmarks certification from the Center for Internet Security and the Exaopc OPC interface package has been certified for compliance with the OPC Unified Architecture (OPC UA*3), an international standard for the exchange of data between information and control systems that has been established by the OPC Foundation.
Overview of certification
As described below, CENTUM VP and ProSafe-RS, which are core components of Yokogawa’s integrated control and safety system, as well as IT Security Tools and the Exaopc OPC interface package have received certification.
1. ISASecure SSA Level 1 certification for integrated control and safety system consisting of CENTUM VP and ProSafe-RS
ISASecure SSA Level 1 certification is based on IEC 62443-3-3, an international standard for control system security. Level 1 certification by the ISCI, a third-party organization, confirms that the CENTUM VP and ProSafe-RS components of Yokogawa’s integrated control and safety system meet the security requirements defined in IEC 62443-3-3. With the knowledge that these systems are highly secure and meet this international standard, Yokogawa customers can use them with high confidence.
2. CIS benchmarks certification for IT security tools
IT Security Tools is a collection of security settings that are designed to harden Windows computers that run CENTUM VP, ProSafe-R and other Yokogawa system products. CIS Benchmarks Certification is a best practice for securely configuring systems. Certification for conformance with the CIS Benchmarks confirms that IT Security Tools can reduce security risks by configuring the security settings for system products centering on the CENTUM VP and ProSafe-RS components of Yokogawa’s integrated control and safety system.
3. Certification of Exaopc compliance with OPC UA standard
OPC UA is an open international standard designed to ensure safe and reliable data exchange in the industrial automation industry. The Exaopc OPC interface package has been certified for compliance with the OPC UA standard, facilitating secure communications between systems and mitigating cybersecurity risks.
Mitsuhiro Yamamoto, a corporate officer and head of the Systems Business Division at Yokogawa Electric, stated, "In 2025, CENTUM and ProSafe-RS celebrated their 50th and 20th anniversaries, respectively, and our company has evolved both products by adapting the latest technologies to meet customer needs. We will continue to contribute to the realization of safe and secure plant operations by providing secure products and systems."
