February 26, 2014 - Zero-Max announces Roh’lix Linear Actuators that convert rotary motion to linear travel. They carry loads at speeds up to 70 inches per second and are designed for horizontal or vertical applications. Ideal for positioning operations in all types of machinery, Roh’lix is often a less costly and better alternative to pneumatic actuators, belt actuators, and lead screws. With a special “overload” feature, Roh’lix linear actuators halt motion when an obstruction or pre-set level of thrust force is exceeded. Roh’lix actuators are inherently safer than systems that use pneumatic actuators, belt actuators, or lead screws.
Roh’lix linear actuators consist of three precision ball bearings at each end of a two-piece aluminum carrier block. Mounted at an angle to the drive axis, the six bearings convert drive shaft rotation into proportional linear travel. Roh’lix linear actuators are designed to handle motion thrust loads up to 200 lbs. The Roh’lix thrust capacity is adjustable so that the Actuator will stop when thrust setting is exceeded. This results in added safety - especially when there is human interaction.
Roh’lix linear actuators provide a design option for systems requiring accurate positioning and motion control operations with the added feature of thrust load limiting. They are quiet, clean and smooth operating. Designed for maintenance free operation, Roh’lix actuators provide a minimum of 90 percent mechanical efficiency and an operating life expectancy is 2 million to over 100 million inches of linear travel. Applications include packaging, printing, converting, materials handling, semiconductor manufacturing, test equipment, door openers and actuators, medical equipment, gantry robots X-Y tables, adjustable web guides and many others. Five standard Roh’lix sizes are available for 3/8 inch to 2-inch diameter shafts, and metric sizes from 8 mm to 50 mm diameter shafts.
Also available: Quick Disconnect Roh’lix models that disengage the Roh’lix block from the shaft, allowing switchover of equipment from automatic to manual operation and back again. Sizes from 3/8 inch to 3/4 inch diameter shafts and metric sizes from 8mm to 20mm diameter shafts. (Shafts not included with either Roh’lix models).
