In this position, Pflantz will work with Society leaders and staff to increase awareness of the value and relevance of the ISA brand and build on ISA’s range of capabilities and resources for automation professionals.

The symposium will focus on how automation is used to address the impact of increased regulation, manufacturing costs, and security threats related to the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and biotech industries.

Attending engineers, technicians and plant managers gained the latest insights, news and trends in process measurement and control across key process industry sectors. Particular attention was placed on the critical issues in instrumentation, communications, control systems, safety and security.

The book serves as an excellent reference tool on networking in industrial environments. Best-practice recommendations for installation, maintenance, security, and troubleshooting are clearly outlined.

This year, five individuals were presented with awards at the recent ISA Leaders Meeting by Nicholas P. Sands of DuPont, the 2015-16 Vice President of ISA’s S&P Department.

A pressing challenge facing manufacturers in the US is the growing skills gap. Experts project that over the next 10 years nearly 3.5 million manufacturing jobs will be needed. However, because of the ongoing shortage of qualified workers, up to 2 million of these jobs may go unfilled.

The primary purpose of the CCA-ACC is to enhance the professionalization of the Canadian cyber domain through effective inter-association engagement and knowledge-sharing.

The Symposium focused on the needs of automation professionals and on the varied challenges associated with automation and instrumentation in the municipal water and wastewater sectors, including emerging automation and control systems trends, SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition), instrumentation, systems integration, optimization, cybersecurity and alarm management.

ISA112 will develop standards and technical reports intended to improve the overall reliability of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system design, installation, integration and operation of the infrastructure for pipelines, water and wastewater, power, oil and gas, and other industries.

The title of the second edition—Industrial Automation and Control System Security Principles: Protecting the Critical Infrastructure—was expanded and updated to reflect the latest advances in industrial automation and control system (IACS) security.

Elevation to the distinguished grade of ISA Fellow is granted to Senior Members in recognition of their exceptional engineering scientific contributions to the field of automation.

Attendees met face to face with the leading authorities and thought leaders at the pulse of change in the energy industry and gained the critical insights and perspectives needed to stay ahead in the rapidly evolving energy marketplace.
