Sept. 22, 2003 – InfoNetrix LLC ( www.InfoNetrix.com ) has announced plans for a new series of market research reports targeting Intelligent Electronic Devices & Solutions (IEDS™).
The new program is designed to help providers of IED products, systems and services identify active and planned project opportunities and to develop sustainable growth and market share in this burgeoning field. The IEDS™ program will launch on or about October 1st, 2003 and will follow the already established InfoNetrix Business Horizons™ Reports program model. Under this methodology, 200-300 utilities are surveyed by InfoNetrix research analysts every 90-days.
Results of these quarterly surveys are then analyzed and documented in reports containing detailed information about project opportunities over a 30-month planning horizon among the utilities surveyed.Over the course of twelve months, interviews will be conducted with utility decision makers to document legacy installations and new IED procurement initiatives.
The survey will investigate four (4) major categories of Intelligent Electronic Devices and Solutions:· Protection & Control Devices (protective relays & associated control equipment)· Analytical & Diagnostic Devices (e.g., digital fault & data loggers/recorders; power quality analyzers; etc.)· Smart Apparatus (intelligent switches, breakers, regulators, sectionalizers; auto-restoration devices; etc.)· Field Data Devices (remote terminal units; substation controllers/gateways; other “RTU-like” devices)The 1,000 utilities targeted each year include substantially all of the largest investor-owned utilities (IOUs) and federal/state power districts as well as a significant cross section of municipal utilities and rural electric cooperatives (RECs) across the United States and Canada.
“InfoNetrix Business Horizons™ reports are a powerful business development tool that allow providers to virtually eliminate ‘cold-call’ sales prospecting and focus on real projects,” said Mike Smith, InfoNetrix principal and Director of Tactical Market Research & Development for the firm. “We have used this same business model in other areas of the utility market, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Substantially all of the clients subscribing to our quarterly Business Horizons™ reports in our electric utility automation and I/T practice areas have quickly recognized the positive impact this information has on their sales channels and business development activities.
Frankly, any supplier operating without this information in hand is at a distinct disadvantage when competing against those who do,” Smith emphasized.Clients of the IEDS™ Program will each receive a series of quarterly reports containing both Legacy Installation and Planned Project information relevant to IEDS. More specifically, this includes RFP, specification and award dates; protocol identification; installation/configuration details (along with budget amounts and timing) and other pertinent information about past and future project activity. The first quarterly IEDS Business Horizons™ Report will be available electronically to program clients in January 2004, with subsequent reports in April, July and October.
Early Adopters (i.e., orders received by September 26, 2003) will also receive: Input into development of the questionnaire to be used in conducting the utility interviews A discount of $1,000 off the Program List Price of $8,990 (Early Adopter Price: US$7,990*)An option to get project data in Excel spreadsheet format for just $500 more (List: $1,000)An additional $1,000 discount is also available to existing TDMS (Transmission & Distribution Management Solutions) clients.IEDS Program inquiries should be directed to Mike Smith at +1.916.984.7430About InfoNetrixInfoNetrix LLC is a leading automation and information technology market research and consulting firm with dual headquarters in New Orleans, Louisiana and Sacramento, California.
