May 7, 2014 - ACM Facility Safety announces its June and July 2014 schedule of process safety training courses and workshops. Classes typically are a combination of classroom and hands-on training covering various aspects of process safety, including P&ID drawings, hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies, Safety Integrity Level (SIL), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and similar topics. Courses include: P&ID Engineering Drawing Interpretation Workshop http://www.acm.ca/course.aspx?menu_id=16&id=476 Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada June 2-3, 2014 The P&ID Engineering Drawing Interpretation Workshop provides a combination of classroom instruction and workshop exercises focused on critical documentation essential to the safe day-to-day operation of facilities (e.g., P&ID, PFD, Plot Plan, Electrical Area Classification, Piping Drawing, Isometric Drawing, Line List, Tie-In List and Shutdown Keys). Price: $1,495 CDN. SafeGuard Profiler Certification & Workshop http://www.acm.ca/trainingcourses.aspx Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada June 3-5, 2014 This 2-day workshop is comprised of combined classroom instruction and workshop exercises. The range of topics that will be covered in this interactive session include importing HAZOP data, performing SIL Determination studies using Risk Graph and LOPA, SIF Loop Verification, SRS, and Reporting using SafeGuard Profiler software. The course is free for qualified students and includes a copy of SafeGuard Profiler software. PHA/HAZOP Leadership Workshop http://www.acm.ca/course.aspx?menu_id=16&id=488 Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada June 4-6, 2014 This 3-day PHA / HAZOP course is designed to deliver expert instruction on how to successfully plan and execute Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) studies efficiently and effectively. This includes understanding the principles behind each of the major PHA methods (HAZOP, What-if?, Checklist, FMEA), learning how to deal with challenging personalities within the PHA team, and how to avoid common pitfalls and traps so PHA studies run smoothly. Price: $2,200 CDN SIL Determination/ LOPA Workshop http://www.acm.ca/course.aspx?menu_id=16&id=502 Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada June 9-10, 2014 This 2-day course is designed to deliver expert instruction on how to successfully plan and execute Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Determination studies efficiently, effectively and in accordance with the IEC 61511 standard.  This includes understanding the principles behind three of the most commonly used SIL Determination methods (Layer of Protection Analysis, Calibrated Risk Graph and Safety Layer Matrix), learning how to deal with challenging personalities within the SIL team and how to avoid common pitfalls and traps so studies run smoothly.  Price: $1,850 CDN SIL Validation Workshop http://www.acm.ca/course.aspx?menu_id=16&id=500 Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada June 11-12, 2014 This 2-day course is designed to provide students with the tools necessary to perform SIL Validation studies compliant with the IEC 61511 standard.  The practical course uses real life examples to demonstrate to students how to conceptually design multiple Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs) to meet the specified safety integrity levels. Price: $1,850 CDN SafeGuard Profiler Certification & Workshop http://www.acm.ca/trainingcourses.aspx Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada June 17-18, 2014 This 2-day workshop is comprised of combined classroom instruction and workshop exercises. The Human and Organizational Causes of Accidents http://www.acm.ca/uploadedFiles/PDFs/2014-ACM-FM-Macondo.pdf Location: Calgary, AB June 18, 2014 This course focuses on the human and organizational causes of the Macondo blowout and Gulf of Mexico oil spill in 2010. It analyses the factors that contributed to poor engineering decisions and why there was no focus on major hazard risk. At the end of the course participants will understand how organizational structure may contribute to poor engineering decisions. Price $950.00 CDN TÜV Rheinland Functional Safety Engineering Certification Workshop http://www.acm.ca/course.aspx?menu_id=16&id=512 Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada June 23-27, 2014 The TÜV Rheinland Functional Safety Engineering Certification Workshop trains experienced safety engineers who wish to obtain a TÜV Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) certificate verifying their expertise. The workshop has been reviewed and accepted by TÜV Rheinland, and passing a final exam at the end of the five-day course will earn the certificate. Price: $4,300 CDN. P&ID Engineering Drawing Interpretation Workshop http://www.acm.ca/course.aspx?menu_id=16&id=476 Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada July 7-8, 2014 The P&ID Engineering Drawing Interpretation Workshop provides a combination of classroom instruction and workshop exercises focused on critical documentation essential to the safe day-to-day operation of facilities (e.g., P&ID, PFD, Plot Plan, Electrical Area Classification, Piping Drawing, Isometric Drawing, Line List, Tie-In List and Shutdown Keys).
