Ignition 8.3 arrives September 16, offering benefits for practically every automation professional, whether you’re on the plant floor or in a corner office.
The first thing you’ll notice is a redesigned Ignition Gateway UI. It puts everything at your fingertips with global search capabilities, single-click launching of web apps and project files from the gateway, and a new REST API that simplifies connecting and managing enterprise configurations.
For integrators, the new native Git integration gives you complete version control and tracking of every project change for collaboration so smooth it’s like a shared digital whiteboard.
Boost your data management with a new Historian Module Suite that has two modules for blazing-fast data logging with little-to-no setup required, plus a public API for building your own historian.
Become a master at creating and managing data pipelines using the Event Streams Module to wrangle tags, alarms, and Kafka feeds, then filter, map, and route them to handlers without manual scripting.
Speaking of creating, you’ll no longer need to juggle different design programs for dynamic visuals. Design and edit stunning SVGs right inside Ignition with Perspective’s new Drawing Editor.
If you work in IT or DevOps, you can breathe a sigh of relief because Ignition 8.3 simplifies container-friendly deployment and enables fast management of multiple environments all from one server. That means Ignition becomes one lightweight executable resource that’s as easy to manage as a one-click application.
Plus, new driver support for Siemens S7+ PLCs and an Offline Mode for entering data at remote sites keep you connected—even when you’re off the grid.
And for executives looking for value and stability, Ignition 8.3 is a long-term commitment to protecting your data—and your investment. In fact, it’s a long-term support (LTS) release that’ll receive regular updates and enhancements for at least the next five years.
As for security, the new Secrets Management removes private data like passwords, certificates, and encryption keys from shared configuration files.
Considering that the above is but a portion of all the enhancements in Ignition 8.3, the decision to upgrade to Ignition 8.3 should be an easy and economical one for current Ignition users.
