    Invensys Process Systems has recently completed a fast-track implementation of SimSci-Esscor operator training simulators (OTS) being used at a new EO/EG (ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol) plant for TOC Glycol Company (TOCGC), a subsidiary of PTT Chemical Ltd. The new plant, located at the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate in Rayong province, will supply feedstock products to various processing customers in and around Map Ta Phut, Thailand’s key petrochemical industrial cluster.

    The ABB Automation World 2006 Users Conference and Exhibition, held in Houston, Texas last week (May 9-11, 2006) exceeded prior event attendance by more than 45%, totalling more than 2,500 attendees. The three-day event (May 9-11) was substantially bigger than ABB Automation World 2005 and featured 400 workshops and a 40,000 square foot exhibition hall with hands-on demonstrations and displays of ABB automation products and systems.

    The three-phase project restructures the system architecture to a high speed, fiber-based system, upgrades existing PROVUE consoles to the latest DeltaV consoles and integrates the three existing control rooms into one centralized location.   • Multenet releases LAN Buffer to store 50,000 call records

    The PocketPAD LAN Buffer enables data transmitted from a serial device to be stored and then retrieved by establishing a TCP connection to the Buffer over the Ethernet network. The PocketPAD Buffer connects to the serial port of the PABX and into the company LAN, storing up to 50,000 call records. In Offline mode, data from the PABX is saved to flash for later download to a management station.

  • ABB wins $150 million service contract in Finland

    ABB received a contract from Myllykoski Paper Oy to assume responsibility for maintenance operations at the company's mill in Anjalankoski, Finland. The ABB Full Service agreement is valued at more than $150 million. The arrangement covers automation, electrical and mechanical maintenance and planning as well as material management at the mill, which produces some 500,000 tons of coated and uncoated papers annually.

  • Honeywell wins two contracts at Powerflute

    Honeywell will supply an Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS), a Da Vinci quality control system and a Devronizer steambox to Powerflute's paper machine in Kuopio, Finland. Powerflute makes the world's strongest semi-chem fluting medium and has a single mill at Kuopio in Eastern Finland. Honeywell also won a multi-year Life Cycle Management agreement to help the mill update control systems, maximize asset effectiveness and improve production.
