CODESYS Depictor supplements the CODESYS Development System with an additional interface for 3D animation of IEC 61131-3 applications.

July 2, 2015 - 3S-Smart Software Solutions adds CODESYS Depictor Tool to its CODESYS Development System to provide 3D animation of IEC 61131-3 applications and display functional dependencies from the IEC 61131-3 development interface.

Complex 3D elements created with CAD tools (for example in the COLLADA format) are imported for use in CODESYS Depictor. Without any additional drawing work, users can display application flows based on design drawings. In addition, CODESYS Depictor provides the capability of bundling machines or machine parts from spatially configurable standard elements. Poses can be used for describing the spatial position and orientation of these elements as a function of machine states. To create 3D animations, a pose can be assigned spatial transformations, such as translations, rotations, and scales in all spatial axes.

Benefits of CODESYS Depictor: With the direct link to the IEC 61131 3 program, the 3D view shows only the process that the application is currently running, if necessary even before the first test on a physical machine or plant. Thanks to the integration within the familiar IEC 61131 3 interface, PLC programmers can generate machine animations regardless of their experience with CAD tools. These kinds of animations have a wide range of diverse applications, from the optimization of process flows in machines and plants to function studies for project and sales meetings and technical trainings.
