July 31, 2013 - 3S-Smart Software Solutions opens the CODESYS Store. It allows users to access ready-made solution elements for their CODESYS applications. The CODESYS Store, an online market place at http://store.codesys.com , provides application modules and productivity tools for CODESYS users.
The products offered include free-of-charge sample projects, device description files, utilities, tested application libraries, additional visualization elements and tool plug-ins. Beside the products offered directly by 3S-Smart Software Solutions the new Store also offers third-party products from device manufacturers, system partners or other independent providers. From CODESYS V3.5 ServicePack 2 on, the CODESYS Store will not only be accessible through standard browsers, but also be fully integrated in the programming system CODESYS. This means: If required, CODESYS users can look for suitable software add-ons directly when working in the IEC 61131-3 tool.
All selected packages can be installed, licensed and rated directly in CODESYS, without intermediate storage. Moreover, users will be informed about available updates for installed software add-ons directly in the CODESYS tool. This applies for purchased full versions and free-of-charge products or demo versions with time limitation. The software licenses will be checked by the so-called "CODESYS Security Key," a USB dongle which can also be used by third-party-suppliers. This key offers additional security functions for users such as the encryption of their own source codes, boot projects or libraries.
