Houston, Texas, May 5, 2008 -- ABB Chief Executive Michel Demaré opened ABB Automation World, ABB’s largest customer event, by highlighting the benefits of collaboration with customers and partners to speed up innovation and product development and to help businesses concentrate on their strengths. Collaboration with customers, universities and other partners has become an essential business tool for ABB in a world that is marked by rapid technological and economic development, Demaré said.
The Power of Collaboration was the theme of this year’s event.A record 3,300+ customers, distributors, channel partners, original equipment manufacturers and ABB employees attended the three-day trade show and conference that ran from April 29 through May 1 in Houston, Texas.At the same time, many ABB products and services are showcased in a 40,000 sq. ft. exhibition hall.
The displays include industry-specific solutions for chemicals, life sciences, marine, metals and mining, oil and gas, pulp and paper, utilities and power generation, water and wastewater.
Technology partners
ABB’s technology partners were also invited to exhibit in the hall, so that visitors could see how the company works alongside vendors. “ABB enjoys a reputation for innovation and reliability and this has been achieved in close collaboration with you, our customers and partners,” Demaré said at the opening.
“It is an approach to doing business that is woven into the very fabric of ABB.”New this year was an electrical integration pavilion, which shows how the integration of electrical equipment and process automation will in the future drive productivity improvements, increased safety and lower costs, and demonstrates why ABB is considered the world's leading automation and electrical systems integrator.The pavilion showed how ABB already delivers significant value for customers by teaming Extended Automation System 800xA with low-voltage switchgear for increased reliability and reduced maintenance costs.System 800xA has also been teamed with Intelligent Electronic Devices such as variable-speed drives, motor controllers and low-voltage circuit breakers to enhance equipment effectiveness and improve access to vital equipment and system data.
Now in its fifth year, ABB Automation World showcases products from ABB’s five division: Automation Products, Process Automation, Power Products, Power Systems and Robotics.The comprehensive displays of ABB's products and systems portfolio include analytical products, electrical balance of plant, instrumentation, low voltage products and systems, motors and drives, power electronics, robotics and services. ABB also announced the dates and venue for ABB Automation World 2009. The event will be held at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando, FL from March 24-26, 2009.
