ABB Awarded System Extension Contract For Sinopec's Crude Oil Pipeline

Shanghai, China, October 13, 2003 ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has been awarded a major automation system expansion for the Sinopec Xuzhou Pipeline Storage & Transportation Company at its newly built crude oil pipeline extending from Ao Shan to Zhen Hai. The pipeline, extended by 1200 kilometers, will be the largest long distance pipeline for Sinopec.The scope of supply consists of an ABB SCADA system and new automation for the Ao Shan to Zhen Hai extension. The contract also includes an upgrade of the SCADA system currently at the main control center in Zhen Hai, as well as upgrades to the Hanzhou and Xu Zhou control centers.

ABB is responsible for the integration, installation and commissioning of the system as well as customer training.Sinopec chose ABB because of the short delivery time, superior technology and competitive offering.
