November 12, 2012 – ABB introduced Decathlon Version 2 data center infrastructure management (DCIM) system, an open platform that can integrate diverse legacy systems, while allowing new systems and technologies to be added, to facilitate more dynamic business operation. It provides unified visibility and expert decision support across a company’s worldwide data center portfolio so that data center operators can allocate resources across entire enterprises more intelligently, for significant new efficiencies.
In the current business climate of mergers and acquisitions, data center professionals are often challenged to manage newly acquired facilities with different building management systems and monitoring equipment. The operator is free to add preferred applications, such as Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or work-order ticketing systems.
Accurate and fine-grained visibility is attained through a unified enterprise view of combined device and system metrics. Operators can right-size resources to business requirements on a broad scale. Power usage effectiveness tactics can be employed and measured and energy scaled directly to equipment use. A standardized approach to mapping resilience allows more effective planning and management of disaster response. Graphical representations of a unified alarm system give status at a glance and specific root-cause analysis.
